You would never call a Sachin & Babi collection minimalist. Sleek? Yes. Edgy? Yes. Feminine? Check. And always, always influenced by their native India.
This season, it was all about the extras. Pegged pants were toughened up with biker straps from knee to ankle. A beautiful red party dress was sequined down one side. A simple, straight white dress had added fringe, making it just a tiny bit edgy.
There were lots and lots of leather leggings, a grey wool, houndstooth print and chunky sweaters, a mix of fabrics and textures that worked perfectly for Fall, and the straight silhouettes worked as a canvas to pin on embellishments. The collection was basically brown, beige and grey, so the pops of color really stood out. The Indian influence this season came from the tall collars inspired by traditional fighting daggers.
They have a real talent for mixing classic style with current trends, without becoming so trendy the clothes will be outdated in a season or two. They are clothes for the ages, inspired by India, infused with just enough rock ‘n’ roll.
