A STYLISH ADVENTURE INSPIRED BY THE SEA
It wasn’t so much a stage as the docks at a seaside resort at the Library of the Performing Arts, where Nautica presented its Fall 2011 collection. Inspired by the Maritime Heritage of the Sleeping Bear Dunes region of America’s Great Lakes, it was classic Nautica, preppy panache with a seafaring twist.
There were cargo pants, turtle necks, pleated pants, toggle coats, suits and trench coats, in white, gray, deep sea blue, red, sandy beige and sailor stripes. The real pop of color came in the form of a puffer vest in bright orange, an obvious nod to the Coast Guard.
There’s a kind of beauty in the consistency of Nautica, you know you’ll get real preppy style, from cardigans to shorts, but the surprise comes in the little twists, like woolen sneakers and herringbone ties. These are the clothes any guy will want to pack when he keeps heading out to his Hampton’s home long after Summer has ended.
