HIS CLASSIC COLLECTION GETS A STANDING-O AT MERCEDES-BENZ FALL 2011 FASHION WEEK
Once again, the last show of the day was worth waiting for. Zang Toi wowed the room, as his elegant and dramatic styles strode down the runway. A caped, camel cashmere suit was followed by a procession of gowns that can be described as regal.
The colors palette was simple and beautiful, camel, black and the deepest green done in velvet and wool. The drama was in the designs, with full, awe-inspiring ball gowns, some with pleated skirts, some studded with jewels. Each look was greeted with a new round of applause. There was a Real Housewife from somewhere walking the runway, but when the designer came out for his bows, the crowd leapt to his feet in the first standing ovation I remember seeing at any show, at any Fashion Week. It was well-deserved, considering he’d just served up some true fashion drama on Broadway.
