YOANA BARASCHI BRINGS COLOR TO THE FALL PALLETTE

THE DESIGNER MAKES READY-TO-WEAR FUN AT MERCEDES-BENZ FALL 2011 FASHION WEEK

There’s something nice, if unusual, about seeing a show in the Fashion Week Tents that’s filled with clothes you could simply buy, and wear.  That’s what Yoana Baraschi does best.  Her presentation in The Box in Lincoln Center was filled with fashion that was ready, and fun, to wear.

In a season of dour blacks, grays and browns, Baraschi showed color, and lots of it.  Warm reds, neutral camels and wines livened up the standard, dark hues.  Classic pinstripes mixed with playful patterns, geometrics and faux furs, a relief in a season where it would become clear many designers had taken a step backward in time and covered everything with the real thing.

This is a collection for women who aren’t worried so much about trends, they know what they like and what looks good on them.  Bright orange pants and colorful sheath dresses added real joy to the collection, and made the typical fall fabrics look a lot more appealing.  The chic, sophisticated suiting and fine tailoring make this a truly covetable collection.

Her one bow to hip?  Androgynous model Andrej Pejic, who showed up in several shows this season, was wearing her very feminine pieces, and blending in perfectly with the girls in The Box.
