A MIDSUMMER DAY’S DREAM WITH RAUL MELGOZA

THE MASTER TAILOR TRIES A SLIGHTLY SOFTER LOOK FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2012

Luca Orlandi was a tough act to follow at Luca Luca.  But perhaps his final great decision was to hand over the reins to Raul Melgoza.  Every season, it seems the collection takes on more of Melgoza’s aesthetic, while somehow managing to keep the Luca Luca tradition clear.

This season, Melgoza clearly had soft and sensual written atop his sketchbook.  Delicious jewel tones, lots of draping, the perfect wardrobe for a midsummer cruise on the Mediterranean.

Luca Luca is, as always, feminine and sophisticated.  Dresses had dreamy movement in soft summer fabrics.  There were high waist slacks topped by candy colored print tops, and whites were crisp and clean.  Pants suits were business like without being masculine.

There were so many standouts in this collection, from fun, bright pants that really popped, to sleek, sexy blacks, perfect for summer evenings.  Pieces in a shimmering silver added even more elegance, as, of course, did the magnificent evening wear.

There is so much at Fashion Week that is geared toward the very young.  Luca Luca is designed for confident, assured women, and how amazing is that?
